BEST is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization whose mission is to inspire students to pursue science and engineering careers through participation in a sports-like robotics competition. BEST increases student understanding of technical concepts and scientific principles and provides real-world engineering experience to students with limited resources. BEST also reinforces project management concepts with a constrained contest time frame and encourages abstract thought, self-directed learning, and problem solving in a workforce environment. Furthermore, it promotes life skills such as team building, sportsmanship, leadership, and ethical conduct. |

The P-51 Mustangs had our best showing at Texas BEST in team history placing 19th in the game and winning the most photogenic award. We had a chance to make the quarterfinals, but things just did not go our way. We were excited to see all the great robots, teams and fan support. We hope that we will not have to wait another four years before we return to Texas BEST |

The Pearce Robotics team, fresh off our outstanding showing at the Dallas BEST regional, is on its way to Texas BEST for the first time in four years. We exceeded in both technical and non-technical aspects, winning 2nd place in the game, 2nd place Best award, 3rd place notebook, and the prestigious founders award. Having reviewed game footage, we are now practicing and retooling our strategy to prepare for Texas BEST. |

The Pearce Robotics team looked very impressive at Mall Day, displaying just some of the features that our robot could do. With only part of our claw articulating we still managed to pick up plane parts and even assemble a wing or two. We were also excited to see some of the other innovated designs created by other teams to address the same problem. Overall, Mall Day gave us a view into the future to see the potential of our robot at competition. |

As the unofficial beginning to our robotics year, the Dallas BEST Kickoff exceeded the expectations we have been thinking of since our disappointing end of last season with our elimination in the regional quarterfinals. With the unveiling of the full functionality of the BRAIN board and the 2008 challenge, Just Plane Crazy, we were excited to started build and learning about engineering process. This years challenge, along with the new capabilities of our robot due to the new control system look to make this year a great experience. |
