Flight Training

Overview

For the 2024 FRC season, the JJ Pearce Robotics Team is launching a new outreach program to engage interested Richardson North Junior High and Parkhill Junior High students with the team. Participating “trainees” will be invited to certain meetings at certain times in order to stay up to date with the team’s progress, ask questions, and engage with the robot-development process. They will be welcome to attend any meetings they want, though we can only guarantee we will have suitable things for them to do during dedicated flight-training times, and trainees will be required to have adult supervision (parents, guardians, older siblings, etc.) during non-flight training times. One adult supervisor can oversee multiple trainees at a time if necessary. Trainees are also invited to our competitions and send-offs. Dues, which are $20 per student, include a t-shirt and safety glasses. All trainees will be required to complete safety training.

Schedule

This is the general schedule we will be working from, and it is subject to change. More details will be available once trainees have registered, and all updates will be communicated by email to guardians. Design reviews will be scheduled for one hour around noon on the days listed. Trainees are welcome to attend any meetings they want, though we can only guarantee we will have suitable things for them to do during dedicated flight-training times on the schedule below. There is no attendance requirement for trainees.

Expectations

We are very excited to welcome younger students into our program, but we expect that all trainees will maintain good behavior and follow safety precautions. Trainees will be given three strikes for behavioral disturbances and no strikes for safety violations.

Communication

Each trainee needs to have at least one guardian’s email address registered so that we can communicate with you. Emails may include changes to the schedules or team progress updates.

Complete the form below for initial registration. Release forms and payment information will be sent after you have completed the form.
